Well done Nigel...

Good to see that the word IS getting out there.

The day is still on, but the wind is slim pickings.
Northerly wind to 10 knots means if you want kiteflying, then it'd be best down at Geelong (Eastern Park or similar). Of course there may be NO wind at all, so making the trip down this way rather pointless also.

But if people prefer, we can still catch up for a chat etc at Altona.

Cheers,
Goshen

PS - Interesting site, very well put together. Although the forum is the same as a kitingaustralia.com, which not many people ended up using... Hopefully the interest with this one is kept alive?

Got to Altona today, but wasn't expecting ANY wind. There was nothing in the morning, and the wind was meant to tend northerly during the day. This is no good for Apex Park, so I was looking forward to an early trip home, and an afternoon at home.

HOWEVER, upon arrival, we could actually fly some kites, as the wind was a light onshore, about 2-3 knots. Now that's nothing to write home about, but over the course of the day it slowly got stronger, peaking at perhaps 7 or 8 knots. A few buggies were out, but even more landboarders!

Anyway, rumor from a local saw us head out to a mammoth hill, just SW of Apex Park. It's a new park that's just being established by the Hobsons Bay City Ccouncil. This place is just epic! 360 degree views (meaning good wind from any direction), and great grass slopes and a bit of terrain to keep everyone amused. The wind even picked up a little later on, probably to 10 knots or so. While this was still dismal, it allowed some great jumping down the hill, and really drove home the potential of the place.

The Northerly wind never eventuated, but even if it did, now we have a place to go.

Till next time,
Goshen
