Hi All,
Well were back from the Birdsville Track.
So how did we go??
Lets see.
We allowed 5 days at the track and on the first day there were very light winds to nothing in the arvo. :(
On the second day great 10-15 knots from the ESE. :D
We had covered 32 km on the first day and in the morning we did about another 20 then had lunch.
After lunch we set off for another super run this time the wind holding close to 15 knots.
Was out in front when the call came in that someone was injured and we had to stop!!!!
The injury was a broken coxyx (sp?) the bone at the base of your spine.
So us out in front had to be towed back to the lunch point.
The worst thing was that there had been rain the day before we got there, and there were atleast 12- 15 mud pools that we had traveled through already.
Hanging on to tow ropes on the back of the 4WD we then went back to the lunch point and through all of the mud pools again !!!
The next three days were all North winds so that was about it.
We did have some lay days that we could have used to wait on the track but this did not happen.
So on a rough calculation we have done about 12% of the track.
The most possitive thing is that we got further than the guys who went to the South Pole. They only got to the end of the run way!!
If you have questions please ask!
