Hi All,

What are peoples thoughts on dirtsurfers??
I know that they are far faster than an ATB but offer less versitility.
Any one got one??

I'm pretty sure that some models of the dirtsurfers do have foot straps. They are bloody fast! At speed they are stable and you can really lean them over in the turns. Like a bike, the slower you go the harder it is. The only down side to them is that you can only travel in one direction. ie you can't go backwards like you can on an ATB. I guess you'd just have to learn toeside riding real fast.

cheers

well i guess toeside would e the go, although you could just stop and turn it around... but what would the fun be of that....

I have used one before and done the toe side thing already.
But yes the only thing that might annoy me if I get one is the fact I would go in the race series and I don't know how good it would be for the short courses that we tend to have.
As you can guess it does not have a small turning circle and would get lost in the field at the turns. But would "go" on the straights.
They do come with foot straps I think, but I know you can buy them.

nigel you may want to investigate getting foot straps for it. we need to get ur 2 wheel buggy hapening... with the cage so when u rollover u dont die :P ....
Would you be intending to race with it? if so i look forward to beeting you with my f16 (no more 840arc) bit of fun i should suggest...

Pure 2 wheel kite bike on hold until I get back from the UAE.
Must make dune kite buggy, with suspension that adjusts in height for different conditions.
But will soon make kite bike attachment for Libre buggy!!
Good practice for the super fast 2 wheel kite bike or gravity F1 racer, wind: kite bike, no wind: looking for hills to try.
The current speed record for a dirt surfer is around 65 mph but lying down and with a fairing, lets see?? 80mph???
Just think of the looks you will get when you pass the guys on luges???

Nigel, bring on the hills!!!
PS: Current buggy record is 76mph, just give me a salt lake and 30 knots!

i thought the offical buggy record was 84kmh? if 82mph is correct that is flying
i wont be doing that ne time soon, at least if you go through with ur dune buggy idea you will at least get it unlike the pl Monster buggy tim was suppose to get...

ahhhh its a bit more than a week after nigel rode my board and the atb bug has hit him. His body is trying to fight it because buggying is so natural for him, but soon he will be a changed man on a board. just you wait and see.

The bug has not got me, but I like to be able to keep my options open to anything along kiting lines. (no pun intended)
But might consider a MTB if one came up at the right price.

mountainboard, it is a pity both mountain board and mountain bike fit in to mtb, prehaps we should call at an atb All Terrain Board
