This one is for Kitebuggykev if you are listening, or anyone with free advice for a beginner.
I like the review of the 4m buster. Can you get them second hand?
Kites seem pretty expensive and it is hard to select one without giving them a workout under various conditions.
I have started with an old Quadrifoil (4m) and a PL buggy. so far so good but I can see that a faster kite would give me more power.
Should I look at a bigger kite for low winds?
Can you fly kites in the Waterboard Parks around melbourne :?:

Why would you get another 4m kite??
The Busters are only very new and I doubt that there would be many on the secondhand market, if any at all.
Any good kite shop should give you a go of one of their kites if you are interested in purchasing one. They could also help you to find some secondhand ones, or ones that have been traded in by other customers.
If I was getting a second kite I would go for a 2m kite, then a 6m after that.
You should then have almost all wind conditions covered, but there would be a large jump from the 4 to the 2.
I know of no bans at any parks in Melbourne, but if asked to stop buggying by some official person then please stop, but find out why you can not continue to buggy or fly. Get their bosses contact details. If they don't want to give you those details then tell them you want to see their ID as you don't beleive that they are, who they say they are. This will give you a name to write about to their boss. :lol:
If they won't show you their ID tell them to get stuffed and keep flying.
Happy to answer your questions Black Prince.

Thankyou Nigel. Good Advice. I thought there might be bigger busters but now I see that 4 is the largest.
Now I also know that PKD is Para Kites Division
Also now I have found out my buggy is a bitser, not PL.
I am learning fast.
Thanks guys

Hi there "BlackPrince"
THe PKD Buster comes in a 7.0mtr size & they are already here & available in Oz (retailer here in Brissy). The colour scheme of the 7.0mtr Buster is a rich Blue, the PKD Busters really have nice colour schemes in my opinion. I actually like the colour scheme of the Buster better/more so than the colour scheme of my Ozone Razor & my Ozone Little Devil & even the Libre Bora.
What Nigel is saying about 2nd hand gear & going for say a 2mtr kite & a 6mtr kite is reasonable & certainly well founded advice. If you can get some good quality 2nd Hand kit then go for it, as buying this way will save you quite a few dollars.
I haven't visited this site for a good 2 weeks now hence my lack of a response sorry for the delay.
In terms of recommending a kite ...well...hmm, without knowing how much flying time you have had with 4 liners, my initial thoughts would be to consider something along the lines of say a PKD Buster or Ozone Little Devil, maybe Airea Bronto or something in that Aspect ratio range (the Buster & the Little Devil handle very similiar so for the money the Buster is definately better value). From there you have the likes of the Ozone Razors the Airea Raptor 2, JoJo RM's & plenty of others but these kites are "race kites" & as such can require more "input" from the Kite Pilot in terms of control of the kite, if you're new this may possibly take away some of the enjoyment or even add to the enjoyment factor.
In any event I would suggest trying out a couple of different kites if possible you have nothing to lose except some time & everything to gain.
All the best.

:D Thanks a lot kev. I have decided to stick with the old quadrifoil a bit longer for skill development
It seems i wont get brilliant results just by upgrading the kite. skill comes first.
Thanks every one for the info. i have just posted another buggy question also.

If anyone is still curious of the Buster prices, here they are:
1.4m = $230
2.0m = $270
3.0m = $330
4.0m = $430
5.5m = $540
