I have seen in a book from the 80's a four wheeler

Craig (another buggy racer in the current series) has a set of the wiz bang axle bits. These attach over the axle and bolt on just like a wheel. They allow you to run two wheels ( one behind the other ) off each axle.
I have tried them and found that they suffer greatly if you turn, as the wheels have to spin on themselfs. Slows you down, just like a hand brake.
Would be good on softer surfaces due to more contact area but I think for the price some bigger tyres would be better.
