Got back from a short holiday and on it I went to loads of beaches on the coast. I just wanted to say I found that Waratah Bay is brilliant. Anyway it's really flat and wide and long at low tide. High tide come almost all the way up the beach so it's all hard sand. I've just found Sandy point in the locations section on this site and I don't know if I got that far but I went for a long run (coz I saw some land-windsurfers and went to meet them) and the beach was great the whole way.

Yes its magic when the winds and tides are in our favour. :D
I would say you went past Sandy point (10kms away???). Did you see some life savers or their club house amongst the dunes???
There would have been a number of people around that area.
The Blow carts, or the small land yachts, tend to stay away from people further down the beach towards the river mouth.
If you get down near the river mouth then the sand dunes dissapear and are replaced with a very large area of soft-ish but interesting sand.
What speeds were you doing up against the blow carts????
I was down there for the long weekend, and was running rings around them. They don't accelerate to well, but once up to speed they should be faster than a buggy. Not as versertile compared to a buggy.
They cost about $3000!!!!!
Glad you had a good time down there.
Pity its so far away for a quick buggy eh???

I wasn't in a buggy (don't have one) I was mountainboarding. There were hardly any people there and I didn't notice a life savers club or anything. I'll try and find out exactly where I was and put a link to it on multi-map or something. I think I was going faster than them but after a talk to them I had to go coz it was getting quite late but the wind had changed by then and going back the other way was very embarrassing coz it was no more than walking speed. Got some pics of the beach somewhere,, I'll get them later and maybe you'll know where it is.

Oh and another thing, they weren't landboarding, they were riding home-made 4 wheeled boards (like mountainboards but bigger) with windsurfing sails attached. And it wasn't very nice weather so I think there were probably less people in the area anyway.

The over sized ATB's with sail are called speed sails.
They are very quick with a skilled pilot!!!
The wheels they use are narrower and a bit bigger, good for high speeds.
You can also attach one of the sails to a Dirt surfer, and get even more speed. If you are game that is????

I've had a bit of bad luck with my kitesurfing lessons! Bad wind and stuff.

Sorry, I was about to post a pic but just realised it looks like I can only put one up if I've got it on the internet. And I can't be bothered doing that, sorry.

you can upload it in the photo album here..http://www.extreme-kites.com/phpBB2/album.php
and if you then also want it in this topic, then you can just link to it.

Ah yes. Thanks. :D

It's bad quality coz it's from a video and the only photos (which didn't show the beach anyway) were taken when i was doing badly and was very underpowered.
