View Full Version : snap block
I'm looking for those pulleys with a snap shackle attached - I think they're called a snap block? Anyway, they go between your harness and your strop line....
I'm having trouble finding any around melbourne (some boat shops said they could order one in at around $240!). Does anyone know where I might be able to find one?
thanks,
Gav

Tim sells what you what, I think. But off topic are you importing JOJO kites? at http://www.southernkites.com.au/
G'day,
Ronstan (see page 109 of current cattledog) have items that sounds almost like what you describe. Some of their snap shackles look like a pulley could be added witout too much hassle.. the cost should be about 50-80AU + the pulley roller.
most good bolt shops could get em 4 u
Ok, thanks. I checked out the Ronstan web site, and they do seem to have them.... I have also emailed Tim.
And yes, I have just started to sell JoJo kites through SouthernKites.com.au, see http://www.extreme-kites.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=117
cheers,
Gav
I have a shackle / pulley system rigged up at the moment that I think is exactly what you are talking about, it is the same as what Alex Sanz has (know who I mean?) works fantastically!
I found a guy in the States who is a fellow kiteflyer who privately sold me the shackle (new) for a LOT less than what I could get in Aust bout $22US so prob about $30, including postage! PM me and i'll give you his email address if you wish, I then bought the pulley from Steve (Kite Power Sans Souci) for a few dollars total including line etc cost me about $50. As i said though I bought privately so I am not sure how many he has but he has been emailing me since offering more, so definately worth a go.
Another option is to buy the whole kit from Kite Power I think it costs a little under $200 for the lot (mattyw bought from him a little before I got mine) great kit slightly different shackle both work perfectly :D
Let me know if you want the email address

You can get the pully bits in two pices.
One is the quick release, the other is the pully part.
Cost depends on the size and quality of the bit you choose.
How much is it worth to you when it breaks 20 foot up in the air???
See any good yacht place??
GAV, gimme, gimme, gimme!!!!!!
Want to try Jo-Jo's mmmmmmmmm :D
Will you have some to try out on race day?????

Yeah, will have the 4m with me so you can have a go of it. I've yet to get some other sizes for myself. I took it out last night for the first time with the buggy and was blown away by the power. I had the 4.9 blade up first which was great, but then put the 4m jojo up and the power was just incredible. I totally sh^t my pants.

Hi All,
attached is a pic of the pulley we make. Still to have the edges taken off at this stage but works really sweetly. $90 each. Picture is below

Problem is the Ronstan snap shackles arent garaunteed to release under load. Try Wichard, they cost a little more but will release every time.
