Latest NEWS!!!,
We just spoke to a represenitive from the sandy point foreshore commitee and we have been informed that ALL kiting has been banned from shallow inlet!!!!

On the main beach ALL wind powered vehicles are banned between Ned's Look Out and the Look out to the east of the life saving club (fogot the name of it).

The area between these two lookouts is the surf lifesaving club area, basically this is a dead zone, this means if you want to buggy on the beach you must walk to one of the lookouts before you launch your kite. this is over a Kilometer from the life saving club!!!

Also you must not buggy/ ATB/ Land Yacht within 200m of any person on the fore shore.

We are hoping to talk to the foreshore commitee about changing these current rules so all beach users including us, can have a good time at Sandy Point.

Untill till then then Please Do Not Kitesurf at Shallow Inlet!!!!!
For Any One Using The Foreshore Please Follow The Rules ABOVE!!!!

I hate these rules as sandy point is my LOCAL Spot and i am PIssed off to see that some one has been irresposable on the beach and cause the ban to be put in place, i want this sorted as soon as possible.

Yes, it sucks doesn't it....

Apparantly it was someone 'with a landboard' who was playing on the dunes with a kite... about 2 months ago I think. I don't know any other details yet, but if you could get the name and details of the person(s) to speak to regarding the ban (rangers etc), then I could approach them on behalf of the Geelong and District Kite Club...

It's unfortunate that someone has such influence that they can just simply bad kiting there - even though it's such a remote location, but I guess it's not the first time there's been an incident - a kiteboarder smashed into a boat a year or two ago, and there was some fuss about that...

I'll try to find out some more, but keep posting your thought, updates here.

Cheers,
Goshen
