Anyone else crazy like me to buggy or kite on Monday in those winds???
I had the little 1.4 C-Quad and it was a little under powered at times, but once those gusts came through, hang on!!!!!!
Don't know how fast I was going but I was matching the traffic several times.
The whole park was mine!!!! Except for the odd dog and dog walker :-(
I don't think I traveled in a straight line for more than 10 metres :-))
Great fun!!!!

Speaking of crazies - so are you still going out for the 20-30knt nightfly tonight?
I know some people mightn't have heard about this - and I'm very sorry for not sending something out (email) - although it was on the KP newsletter for those who got it!

Seems you are still having fun Nigel & I understand it was raining.
I was out yesterday in an 18 knot wind, which is a far cry from your screaming blasts. It wasn't raining but under a warm sun (47degr. C in the shade).
I thought I would be able to get a bit more speed by pumping up my bigfoots to make a rock hard tyre. The Death Buggy with its rigid frame and solid axle soon had me bouncing over the desert floor so badly that I thought the fillings would drop out of my teeth. The best bit came when I saw a rabbit in very small dunes littered with clumpy bits of desert grass.
I chased the rabbit with the D-Bug and found I could make the rabbit change direction just by positioning the kite just to either the left or right of it. Feeling guilty about chasing the rabbit over the bumpy ground in that heat, I decided to give the rabbit a break. I then slowed down to figure out where I was.
In the excitement of the chase, I didn't notice that my GPS had flown off.
I normally fix it with the Velcro patch and additional tape in three places around the GPS's foam case. All the tape had broken & of course the Velcro wouldn't hold it over such bumpy terrain.
I felt that losing the GPS was my punishment for scaring the poor rabbit. You know me, better with animals than people.
The wind being fairly strong had pretty much covered the wheel tracks through the sand. Nevertheless, not being sure how to find my way back to the car went in search of the GPS. After 40 minutes, I found it and was able to get back to the car just as darkness was on me. No need for one of your fluorescent lights this time.
Despite drinking lots of water and taking Dehydrant powders, the additional effort of the GPS search left me dehydrated and with the usual consequential cramps in the hands as I was driving home.
I guess the lessons learned from that trip were;
1) Don?t pump up bigfoots rock hard
2) Use stronger tape to hold on GPS
3) Don?t be unkind to animals.

What do you mean don't hurt the animals Sand-Yeti.
Try telling that to the five dogs I've hit with the buggy. :D
Yes Goshen I went out today in the 40 odd knots, but it died down to 30 when we all went buggying from 4pm onwards.
The south channel marker in the bay suffered gusts of more than 55 knots. Very windy when all that rain came through some time around mid-day.
Many thanks to the fellow crazies (Craig, Jim and Ben)who joined me for a screaming session around the park.
Yes, I was screaming as by the time we finished it was dark. I had to warn anyone walking across the field to me due to the fact that I was going 60km+ on wet grass, my goggles were covered in water and I could only makeout shapes in the minimal light at speed. :D :D
Craig tried the footbridge crossing for the first time, and didn't wipe himself out on the many obstructions.
He did have several walks of shame, as he was using a 2.5 Raptor on 30 foot lines and it did not have the height to clear the trees to get to the point.
Trying to launch a kite that has a partly closed leading edge in the gusty winds behind the trees was very challenging for him. He did cover quite a distance running backwards though.
Almost put me off foils for good, watching it go up a bit, twist a bit, flip, and then bow tie.
I think he had a good time anyway.
He did manage to get to the point and we both went around the big white marker several times. :D
Sunday looks just as good if not better, not as much rain.
See you all there???
