Having thrashed and trashed several of the GFAK Powerfoil 4.0s in the last few months, am now looking for something just as responsive and powerful but a lot more durable. Recommendations (dual or quad)?

nothing will beat the quality build of a blade, but why dont u try a mac bego? they are fast and depending on what u are doing to them they are surely going to last..

Any kite from a good and well known name in the industry should be able to withstand some heavy use or abuse before it packs up.

There are many kite companies to chose from, and even more kites.

What sort of kite are you looking for????
A race kite for a buggy, a slower but more stable kite for inland use or even a kite to use out on the water??????

I would favour a four line over a two, as it allows you to relaunch with out having to walk to the kite and set it up.

Some of the well known kites for a novice flyer include:
Bullets, Yoz, Little Devil, Rebble, Beamer, Buster, Firebee and Helium just to name a few.

Most of these kite are designed with a begineer in mind and are therefore quite tough and will take some major abuse.

More information from you about what you are looking for will narrow the field down a fair bit.

We all can then dirrect you to some choices in kites for your needs.

Just wondering, what do you mean by saying you have thrashed several of the GFAK Powerfoil 4.0s in the last few months.

Are you saying over 3 months you have destroyed a number of kites? if so, how many and how did you manage to detroy so many kites

The damage done includes the seperation of various parts of the bridles, some tearing of the kite where the bridles are stitched to the kite, a few popped line sets, and a rip in one of the inner cell walls. The winds here in San Francisco have been quite brisk this year. Does anyone know someone in California who does bridle work?

C'ant help you Francis with any one in San Fran.
I would though, find your local kite store or stores and see if they can help you with the repair of your kite and what kites they recommend for you.
Good luck.
