I have just purchased a new 6m Radsal Pro from ebay as my first power kite. I have flown large stunt kites before but never a kite like this. I don?t have a buggy or doomwheels yet, but plan on doing so once I get the hang of the kite.

I am concerned that this kite might be too much? I think I got just a bit too excited on ebay. Not wanting to get something too small that I would regret. So I went for the 6mtr.

I am about 80 kg. What tips or advice can you guys give me? I was thinking about going out in light winds. Will I manage by myself or should I bring a friend along? I don?t know anyone else with a powerkite.

Thanks for your Help

Dave

Hi Dave,

If the kite didn't come with a users manual, first try and download one off the net so that you attach all of your lines and handles correctly, or ask on the forums how to set it up. Definitely just go out in light winds to start with until you get a feel of the kite. Take a friend to help you launch and catch the kite, even if they don't fly kites, it's a good idea in case you get in trouble. 6m power kites can pull with an unbelievable amount of force if you put them up in wind that is too strong before you get the feel for the kite. Also might be worth investing in some safety lines/ kite killers so that your brand new investment doesn't dissappear over a hill if the first gust is too much for you to hold!!!

All that said, you will undoubtedly have heaps of fun! Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Dave,

The simple answer to your question is come over to Redcliffe and see me. I can assist you with your first flights and give you some valuable advice. The park over the road is good to learn on as we get a smooth breeze off the bay. Also we have a small group of local buggiers that you can find at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/BrisbaneKiteBuggy/

Give me a call or contact me through my website at www.briskites.com.au

Thanks Mattyw & Jason,

Jason I will take you up on your offer if that's still ok.

BTW your site looks good. It's a pity I didn't find it before.

Cheers,

No worries, site is still in production but getting there. Give us a call or just drop into the shop one day. Just dont fly that big kite in these gusty Westerlies with no experience.
