Sunday August 15th - Fly at Truganina Park; Altona Meadows

This is the old tip site in Altona Meadow's - Just off Queen St.
Time: 12noon until about 4pm. There are BBQ's if you want to bring some lunch.
Check out the map online at: www.kitepower.com.au/scratch/images/TruganinaPk.jpg

This is primarily a low key Kite-Day - ie Buggies / boards can only used if appropriate on the day, as there's only a limited space. This depends on winds, how many users are in the area, and the space available. It's an awesome location however, and gets good winds from almost any direction - including West and North. Access to the site for traction kiting is tenuous - so just don't come expecting the right to tear the place up...

Also, you could check out the some photo's of the last time we were there: www.extreme-kites.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=94#94

Anyway - it's the 'best possible' location for a Winter Fly. Should be no-one around, lots of space and excellent winds. No more "What do we do if the winds a Westerly!!"

For other events organised over the next two -three months - please check the Geelong Kite Club main page: www.geelongkiteclub.org.au

Sorry about the late notice for those who have things organised - Hope you can attend - Catch you there!

Count me in!!! :D :D :D

Don't care if I buggy or not, as I am heavily into freestyle tricking now!!
Thats two string kites with sticks for the people who may not understand.

I have even been enjoying the very light wind days, 2-3 knots with my little indoor kite :D

Hope to see all the regulars there. 8)

Sounds like a great day, and I would love to be there. However, I leave early Monday morning to go Cross Country Skiing and snowcamping for 3 days. So I unfortuneatly I cant go.

I am going to Mt Stirling. I dont think I will take a kite, proabably would annoy everyone else in my hike group and slow them down if I decided to stop and flya kite. I have been told there are trees everywhere except the top so I doubt I will take any kite.

Oh and also I think The Belmont Common day on September 19th sounds awesome too. However I leave the day after that to go rock climbing for a 5 days at the arapalies. So I doubt I will make that one either. But the 0405 Traction series is looking good for me.

Well I hate to say it, but I've been crook with the flu or something for the last few days (wasn't able to get get up to the snow either! :( ).

So today is off for me. If I was feeling slightly better, I would have made the effort to come down. I have also received news that Craig is not able to make it, and it's raining in Lara, so John and Lyn are going down either.

So many appologies on behalf of the Club Commitee, but I do hope that the wind blows, and the sunshine glows for those that do manage to make it.

Regards,

Only three of us turned up. (what is this an AKA meeting??? )

The wind was very light, and the park was very mushy under foot.
Two of us were there until 2pm then hit Apex park as the grass was much better, but very long none the less.
We stayed until 3pm.
I headed beack to Elwood, nice light conditions for trick flying. Managed to nail a pancake to fade to rising fade, with the Adrenaline. :D
Found a small hole in the Phoenix :(
Angus' dad turned up at Elwood and said that he arrived at Altona at 3pm, so we must have just missed him.
But we both fiddled around to get the 4.9 Blade and a 3.5 N-Gen working better than before.
No rain, light wind and the odd bits of sunshine. Would have been a great day for some flying with more friends.

See you all next time???

Thanx nigel for fiddling about with the NGEN, apparently the main lines were of different lengths for some reason. And I am sorry, what is happening next weekend justin?? where and what time??

No problems doing that with the N-Gen and the Blade.
You should find them both much better to fly. The Blade should be almost perfect or not very far of it, if you don't like the way its set up.

Next weekend?????

News to me????

Next Geelong club fly is September 19th, at Belmont Common.
Then the racing begins;October 10th at Apex Park :D

So how much damage did the mongo do to you car Justin??

Hi Guys, sorry I missed the fly day at altona but I put my back out again on friday so my weekend was spent in pain instead of in a buggy :(

Hope those that made it had fun and hope to see you all at the next one.

p.s. anyone joining me and the family at the Festival Of The Winds at Bondi.....?

nigel

Sorry Dukey,

Not going to Bondi. Any way, I don't think us buggyiers are allowed.
Only single liners I think.

I think Adelaide Int. kite fest. would better suit most of us.
It's got buggyies, kite surfing, dual and single stringers.

Hi Dukey,

At this stage Jsea and I are probebly going to head over to the festival of the winds on the friday and sunday for a look. Would be cool to say g'day so we could hook up for a fly if you are ever up this way again.

Matt. :D
