Hi,
I am approx 85kgs. I am going to purcahse a power kite in the next few days..
I don't want to use it for anything other than dragging me up the beach traction and dune jumping.
What would you suggest I buy.
I am pretty strong so nothing too weak..
And where will I get the best price from ?
Cheers

how much money are you looking at spending? and have you flown and traction kites before? if money is not an object i would get a blade, but as for the size that depends on what sort of winds you will be flying in. the all round size is the 4.9. there are other options on the market as well such as the mac bego, jojo , and the frenzy if you are prepared to wear a harness. as for a local shop that depends on where you are from?

Well I am prepared to spend up to about $600..
And I am in Sydney.. but don't mind ordering online..
Also looking at all the online sites I can find.. the prices vary so much..
I saw a Dwing 3m for $745 on one site with no rope.
and on another I saw it for $400 with rope..

Hi Limestar,
Go and visit Steve at Kitepower. The shop is at Sans Souci. They have a good range of kites and will look after you.
If this is your first power kite make sure you take it easy to begin with. In Sydney, at this time of the year, the winds are swinging east and will be quite strong over the next few months. Our available space in parks and beaches are also not that wide, limiting crashing space required for learning to fly larger foils!
I am also 85kg, my first kite was a 3mLD, a kite like that will drag you around and be good for tractioning throughout alot of summer. As a first kite, I definitely wouldn't go bigger than a 4m, 4.9m absolute max. as shultzie says. :D

hence why i asked weather he had been flying before, check out www.kitepower.com.au or another shop that is good is kite workks in newcastle, but i will agree if you have not flow a traction kite before the place to start is with a small kite, 3m will drag you around in anything above 15knots, as ffor jumping you will need substancially more then that.
then when you are use to the kite and have had lots of practice in varying contitions you can get a larger kite if you wish.

crowe do u think that a begginner should really be flying a raptor? they arent the easyest kites to control, the 3.5 would probably do him better any way....

Hi Shultzie,
No offence was intended, sorry mate  . I agree, for anyone who can fly and is looking for an alround power kite a 4.9 blade III would be ideal. It is definitely the most useful kite in our quiver, and a damn nice kite to fly, buggy and board with.

it is all good, at least we dont have to wory about the bikkeringon like on the larger forums.
the verdect is get a 3m kite then get use to it then get a 4.9 blade III
there is a 3m little devil for sale on the forum as well, not sure if it is still for sale or not but you can give it a go

i know the 4.9 is gone and you dont want the 8.2, so inquire about that and you might get your self a nice deal.
