 Thanks Schultzie! Now that I have your old board, and dressed it up a little, it was time to give it a go at the local beach. How cool is kiteboarding! Well even at 44 years of age you can cut sick and have a ball on one of these boards. Sure the brain said I was still a surfer, but the body took a little more convincing. Could only do downwind runs due to the wind direction, and left the foot straps undone to start with. In no time at all I was getting some serious speed. In fact I even had another kiter ask some questions about what I was doing (even I didn't fully know what I was doing). Thanks to all those who have given me advice, and thanks Schultzie for offering me your board, this is a good start for me. And to all you old bastards reading this...Get off your rear end and give this a go.....Why whould the young ones have all the fun? :D

good to see that you got the board in one peice, i am sorry if it was not quite what you expected as well, that is the problem when you use a board on the beach the rust is inevetable, and just so you know the bearings were cleaned and re-packed about a year ago but has only been ridden once since, yeh, did you eventually begin to go up wind? just rember be safe and have fun.
YEh cmon you oldies, get in there and kick some but!! i seen ap perfect example of people backing out at a comp i was at. dissapointing, but oh well

Glad to hear you are having a great time, and getting out there ripping up the place.
I am a buggyier but I bet the feeling is much the same, cruising down the beach enjoying the thrill of kiting.
Have fun and wear you helmet!!! (only because it makes us look responsible  )
