Hi Guys,

Been speaking to a few kiters the past few dayz and seems a few are keen to come up the the Central Coast and see whats on offer up here.

So far Luke, Marty and I think Don are up for it and as usual the more the merrier. Not sure on location as of yet but I am sure I can find somewhere decent before weeks end. Will definately check out the north of the Entrance @ Norah Head, looks to be better than the Nth Entrace end which is alittle soft due to the dredging that takes place in the channel.

Post up if your keen.

Hi Troy,
I'd love too but think I'm dreamin' like JKS, one of my knockheaded neighbour's:mad::mad: has put me into the local council for having unregistered vehicles on the road, so I'm stripping one like mad to make room to push the other off the road. So I haven't had a chance to go anywhere near a kite for the last week and having withdrawals. So keep a post of where your going and if I manage to finish early I'll be there with a mate.

See how you go JD would be great to see you up here if you can find the time.

Mike - Your first google location we checked out last weekend and it looks alittle protected by the near by dunes (they are much bigger in real life)

You second location is more than developed now with the new Magenta Shores resort complex standing in that vicinity. Was thinking the north end of the same beach in your second link looked ok as we were on the south end last weekend and it was narrow but still buggyable. The Soft sand was more of a hinderance than the narrow run way........except when Luke decided to plow right into me (I still have some nice leg bruises in the shape of Lukes footpegs :D)

Being high tide during the day perhaps a coastal park could be the go, I will post a couple google files with large parks I have found on the waters edge up here. Haven't studied the wind direction factor nor the weekend sport factor but will find out more info during the week

Troy

P.S I returned the favour of Lukes collision by crashing his NEW FlySurfer into the ground.....he was most impressed I have to say :D

Didn't get a fly last weekend. Working Saturday so Sunday I have to have a fly.

Looking like NE -ENE winds which means need a fairly wide beach if we want to get back without a 4x4.

What is Shelly beach like or are there too many people.

G'day Don

Shelly Beach is a patroled beach and is generally fairly busy on weekends - Nth Shelly however is unpatrolled and more of a surf beach so we may have more luck up that end, looks wider on the North end too. Toowoon bay had a buggyable area at the south end but again it is a popular family destination on the weekend. Getting too much further north past Norah Head and it would just about be worth the trip to Stocky. There is a large grassed area at Terrigal (see attached .KMV file) that I have been told we are able to buggy on, no long runs up and down the beach but then again no tides to worry about. I have to get down to the shop very soon so if you are keen for something down there let me know.

Come the next month or so the beaches will be all but empty and unpatrolled and ALL OURS!!

Troy

EDIT - better attach that .kmv :o

Just checked out North Avoca on Google Earth.

Looks near deserted. South end has plenty of people on it.

I came past Rooty Hill about 4-30pm last Sunday on my way back from the farm and the only person at the hill was the guy with the Stunt kite that buzzes us when we're there.

Good to see he is still getting up there, he is quite the Rooty Hill regular now, he will probably get angry when we take up some of his airspace next time we are up there.

Pretty sure Luke and Marty are coming up on Saturday do will no doubt be out for a sesh somewhere, we will definately scope out the best spot.

Hey Troy,

Are you having a sesh on Sunday.
I have to work Saturday but can make the trip up the coast on Sunday.

Is Luke and Marty hanging around for Sunday.

May be able to convince Gareth to come along.

Morning Don.

Not sure of Lukes plans, but am pretty sure that Marty will be around for a Sunday Session. Low tide is at 10:40am so if you want to hit the beach starting early would be the best shot. We are looking at some nice NE on Sunday 15-20knots.

Regards,
Troy

Hey Troy,

Thinking of heading up about 8am. Should get a good early start.
Still thinking North Avoca, but opened to suggestions (nice ones that is).

Will send off a PM to Gareth to see if he is keen.

Only one way to find out if North Avoca is OK.....Will head out there around 9am tommorrow and await your arrival. Not sure if the LifeGuards will Kick us off as it is a patrolled beach but will find out tommorrow I guess :D

If it doesn't work out there or when the tide comes up we can give a spot at Terrigal (5 minutes away) a bash.

Not sure if we are flying or fishing today, might try for an arvo session up at Norah Head or on Soldiers Beach

Thanks for making the trip up today Don :) Wasn't the best of buggy dayz but that beach would be sweet at that direction with another 6 or 7 knots even better with alittle more east in it, you could do return trips without a problem :D

Gotta say though it was good to get the whole way down the beach, even being so much work!

So whenare you getting that 6.5 Blade?? lol

About another 5 or 6 weeks of patrolled beaches then we will only have fisherman to contend with, BTW the fisherman I passed today were only too helpfull with alot of them moving closer to the surf so I could get past, props to the Central Coast fisherman ;)

Troy
P.S Marty got a phone number, think he is doing Lunch on Thursday:on_the_quiet2:
P.P.S Was great to finally meet your better half, hope she enjoyed a day in the the sun :)
