FESTIVAL UPDATE. (from Anne Marie)
Well it has been a different year to last year concerning sponsors. Over the last few weeks this event has gone through the “on again – off again saga”.
A few weeks ago two of our major sponsors pulled out last minute with no warning. This gave a huge black hole in the already tight budget.
So although we have tried to recover this black hole at such a late date it has been very difficult.
We were going to cancel this year, but of course as soon as you make this decision, something
comes around the corner. Malaysian Airlines for the first time has shown interest in the event.
Although their support for this year is very minimal there may be room for a better deal next year.
So the festival is on again with a shoe string budget, so we have had to make some changes.
Changes:
1. Sorry no fireworks or nightfly.
2. No foreshore entertainment
3. We have moved the Festival Dinner from Monday to Sunday.
4. Sorry – no rashies this year.
Other than the above, flying over the weekend will be the same as previous years.
So although we are on a shoe string budget we are pleased to announce that thanks to Malaysian
Airlines we have the following flyers coming:
Rolf Zimmerman
Marco Casadio
Malaysian Kite Flyer (still needing to be confirmed)
So the weekend will be full of fun, so get the kites out of the cupboard and we will see you at the
festival.
I would also like to remind flyers about the change in registration for the Adelaide Kite Flyers
Association Inc. We have now moved registration from July to March to make it easier for all flyers.
If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to call us. We are sorry for the last minute
changes but that’s how things work out sometimes.
Regards,
Anne Marie

Hi Guys,
Spoke to Terry & Nigel today. Both are having a ball, they were at the pub chatting up some germans, failed to tell me if it was a guy or girl :P Sounds like it turned into another success this year, with 1 day to go at the festival. They have had moderate winds, nothing insane, but good winds to be able to run the festival and the workshops. We'll get a full report back once it's all over.
Regards,
.Joel

Many churches in Adelaide, but many Germans too! Maybe the next year we go ensemble?
