Seems to be plenty of interest in MayDay. We have a plug on NX FM's (Austereo Newcastle) community switchboard so hopefully will attract some locals as well.
There is also a definate possibilty of some BloKarts also showing up.
So lets start to confirm which EK'ers we should expect, I know Don, Luke, John, Aaron, Marty and myself are definately booked in and have spoken to more Sydney flyers that are planning to come along. Lets see some commitment - Post up :D

"Your alarm goes off blaring in your ear, yet you are already awake, first time in weeks you have got out of bed before the sun is up with such enthusiasm, kettles on, take a coffee down to the garage and recheck all your gear, kites, buggy, boards, helmets, spin your wheels one last time and check they are rolling smooth as silk.
Throw your gear in the back of the car, crank that ignition and hit the road, its quiet on the road everybodys still asleep you make your way quickly to the servo at the beginning of the freeway, pick up a couple of red bulls, put your foot down hit 6th gear with the bass thumping in your ears as you head north.
The sun is starting to break free of the horizon as you land at the place where the desert reaches the sea on the east coast ,the tide is on its way out the wind is blowing in your face the beach is all yours you head over the dune, only to find kite junkies already there earlier than you flying up and down the beach getting amped for the weekend...........

Have a few things to do when I get up there, like sleeve a few lines, get the buggy proudly displayed outside my cabin, wack up a few kitepower flags (claim the land) drink beer and talk everything kiting. CAN'T WAIT!!

Suggestions on what size kites to take please, fixed bridles, I planning on taking the small ones a 3 & 4 mtr, with the predicted winds, will have very limited room in car.
Should be able to try out Jon's Giga axle if I finish mod's tomorrow
Thanks

if the winds are blowng 25knots+ JD you will be wanting something fairly small. 2-3M should cover you if it gets as windy as predicted. You will love the 6M XC in these kinds of wind too.....GOLD!
Is your buggy a MKII JD?? If it is I will throw my giga axle in (if it fits). I will also be bringing the suspention axle, so you are free to give it a go on your bug (if you can get it off Jon's (KP) buggy .
I hear Luke has packed his fire twirling gear!! Can't wait to watch this after half dozen corona's!!
jdhot
01-05-2008, 06:09 PM
Yer it's a MKII, but Jon gave me his troublesome MKI Giga axle and I've bushed the stub axles to 20mm and going to my local exhaust place tomorrow with some stainless to make some adaptor tubes for the axle to seat tubes. Will have to see how it goes.

Have a good weekend guys - I'm spewin' that I can't make it.
For those of you who went to Lake George earlier in the year - did anyone find a black and grey hooded mambo jacket at the end of the day? - Green stripe down the sleeve. Winter's coming on and I've realised that the Canberra weekend was the last time I saw it. Maybe I left it out there, I don't know, but if anyone does know, I'd appreciate finding it again (It's a favourite). Maybe if you read this before going, you could mention it to anyone who did the Lake George thing.
Anyway, once again, enjoy your weekend guys.
Hope to catch up soon - I haven't been out for a fly since Easter on the farm, and I go a bit stir crazy when I think or hear about kiting.

Here I am on my lunchbreak delving to the bottom of my gear box's pulling everything apart as to be sure to fit as much as I can in AND I look in the box and there is some clothing, a Mambo Jacket at that! One with a big green strip down the arm and I think to myself DAMN that going to make me a NICE grease rag!!
:D It's in safe hands G will get it to you next time I see you or I can take it up to MayDay and give it to Don, he lives pretty local to you, that way atleast you can say your Jacket went to MayDay!!
BTW People speaking of clothing - When at Mayday, keep an eye out for the RED KitePower shirts. Come say g'day, ask for a kite, ask for some tips or just have a chat - this will be us for anyone that doesn't know us already.
