:eek::eek: Nassy Nassy Nassy....what HAVE you done???...I'll tell ya what you've done.....you fell for the VERY same 'oldest trick in the book' that i fell for!!....:yes3:...except i have an excuse....I'm blonde and a woman so straight away that's an unfair advantage on everyone else's behalf...but what's your excuse???....you do realise they OWN you now!!!....:yes3:.....(I don't even know what you've done but know they now own you regardless...lol)...this means you have to behave...be noice and socialable with EVERYONE!!!!.....even those everyones that you don't want to....and the biggest clincher of all?????

you have to actually THINK before you speak/type....and take it from me....that's not as easy as it looks!!!...;) (and not always very successful either!!...;))

Thanks Gog, I was looking for you there man and saved you a seat but not to worry.

Funnily enough...the first thing I did after taking on the role was fill out a membership form and pay up lol. (I thought it was an EK AGM until all this GKC paperwork started flying around!!)

On the way home I nearly had heart failure mate, as it suddenly occured to me that Iv just forked out a small furtune for the boys to play basketball and they play every saturday somewhere between noon and 3pm...Last saturday was my lads first game ever and the team hadnt won a game and were struggling to get a team on the court each week. They drew against a very good side.. my oldest blitzed and the little bloke did great too but 1st born tied the scores with 8 or so seconds to go.

You should have heard the hootin' and hollerin' when the siren went but enough about me sprouting my pride in my sons..

Thankfully, I have just had a good look at the proposed program for the race series and all the events listed are scheduled for sundays. *sigh of relief*

JKS, holy crap, each time I read a responce from you I laugh so hard I wake the neighbors

Hey stop being cruel to the blow cart drivers... they are people too. Isnt that right eddie ? :p

Thanks Gog, I was looking for you there man and saved you a seat but not to worry.

Cheers NAS.

I was looking forward to a good kite catch-up. Bit disapointed i missed it. Had other things on my mind. New job, issues with the ausatb website.

Never fear. I will be there for race day No.1, combat in hand and buggy ready to race.

Any idea on when the first meet will be? and location?

Should be a blast.

Gog.

Nas

OK, now with .Joels confirmation of certain points regarding this race series.... this race series is a GKC events calender and you have to have insurance (which you get with GKC membership) and also the scoring system points to a GKC tally.

Heres the approximate dates for now anyway and I will fill out the calender with the format once things get rolling a bit more.

June 1st. Altona, Apex Park.

July 6th. Geelong, Belmont Common.

August 3rd. Werribee, Presidents Park.

September 7th. Barwon Heads, 13th Beach.

October 5th. Altona, Apex Park.

Nov. TBA.

December 7th (final race for 2008) Barwon Heads, 13th Beach.

cheers,

Nas.

Hi Nas,

EK do not run any races. We simply run the two trips to Sandy Point each year. We will discuss on the night the setup, whereby GKC can hold a race at the Sandy Point meets. Those who can't make it are able to drop their 2 worst race results. Those who can make it, and participate in two races just means they have the opportunity to better their standings in the final results.

I won't go into it further then that until it is completely set in stone over the next week.

You will receive more information on the GKC race dates and setups soon. It is 1am, 4 hours after the AGM and nobody is going to have anything ready for you for at least a week. We will have a meeting during mid May to finalise all race dates, routines etc then add them to the calendar. At that point the current committee will also hand over the reigns and information to the new committee. That means you will have all the info you need, and Justin to help you out as well as he has gone through a race series before.

I'll get you a copy of the racing rules, so I can scream "WTF is starboard?" :D

Regards,

.Joel

Nas,

The race events sound great. I think your enthousiasm is well placed for this role, congratulations. Trying not to put the other club in bad light, but it looks like the GKC has a much better events calender, hmmm thinking about swaping over.

So are there classes for all three: kiteboarding on water, landboarding and buggies?

For instance at Altona we can have all three? Yeeeee haaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!. I'm looking into a landboard at the moment, so thinking it would be fun to join in (will raise a separate thread on this tonight).

Any of you KBV (oops sliped the word out) members recall whether the insurance also covers landbased kiting?

Regards,
SoutherlyBuster

Nas
30-04-2008, 01:53 PM
Thanks JD and Norm, I shall revel in the challenge on a number of levels.

Theres no mention of kiteboarding on the minimal paperwork I have Norm but the reigns havent actually been handed over formally at this point so maybe... maybe not. Not sure whats been done prior.

One of the things I really like about the GKC membership is the fact that for a family its only 40 bucks.

The Geelong and District Kite Club is proud to be affiliated with the Australian Kite Association, and are members of the Kiting Federation of Australia. Membership includes cover under the KFA broad form public liability policy. Details are available at the club website....

Broad form from my understanding means you are covered under the policy wherever you are kiting.

Guns hey??

How about we have shooting comps with these, for when there's no wind.

"Yes officer, they are studies of physics in motion. I am deeply offended you think of me as some public hooligan!"

Don't know if the committee will be up for it though?

Only land based stuff for the racing SB.
But feel free to mix it with the KGB'ers!

Hey Nigel those Trebuchets are insane, though I suspect in Australia are illegal to use. Years ago I saw them hurle pianos. Ok, back on the thread topic ....

So Nigel you say the races for the GKC are only land based, does that include landboarding?

so i have been at work all day and have been left out of it completly... nas cant take all the credit for this... i have had it planned for a couple months but as we never go together to discuss this as the old committee we will miss out on the first race which was scheduled or the 4th may.

Not revaling all info at the moment but there will be an intermediate buggy, advanced buggy, and depending on numbers intermediate mountainboard and advanced mountainboard, No kite surfing,

when i get an early day home from work i will put it all together along with rules and how it will work.

sound like fun?

gotta get me priorities right.... i want to really make a positive diff to this club ....

my old man was big on that sort of thing... he built a junior football club from almost nothing and they ended up naming the under 16s best and fairest trophy after him. that was late 70s early 80s. he was pres and the clubrooms and footy oval he got built are right now in its first upgrade which is really cool. he was every kids mate. didnt matter who the kid was. it was all about the kids and giving them something constructive and positive to do.

His outlook was to give em the opportunity to become good people, cos there wasnt much around here at the time and it was easy for kids to go the wrong way.

kites like these could have the same affects on young people.

itd be nice to follow in those footsteps in some way.
