Hi Ben (and anyone else heading to the snow)
I should have checked the forum before i headed out today. would have been great to kite with yooz. still a bit green to kiting so am keen to pick up some any tips and tricks i can from more experienced kiters.
Had today off and took the work skidoo up to Charlottes. nice breeze coming over the top and was using a 2.5 to get around mt stirling to the thredbo side. it closed in though so i went back down to a huge flat field in the valley a few km's back toward peisher and played with a 6.5 for the rest of the arvo. back home now and feeling majorly unfit.
working tomorow so have fun, hope the weather doesnt hit too hard for you.
will be in perisher for the whole season with random days off. drop me a line on 0402385554 or lincpike@hotmail.com next time you come up and will do my best to juggle shifts and catch up.

Hi Sid
there's a place just near the taboggan park at perisher which i have tried to use a few times. its a few hundred meters from the car park so is handy but the wind is pretty dodgy in that part of the valley.

Hey Pat,
I am back in town now so let me know if/when you are keen to head down to the mountains. I am looking to go this weekend. I have your maps too - unfortunately I didn't get as much use from them as I had hoped.

Hi Tim,
I'm working hard clocking up airmiles with the new family situation, I used up a lot of credit on the Hudson bay expedition! looking to get down to Main range in 3-4 weeks.
Tell us how you go this weekend, good luck.
Pat

I met up with tim on the weekend, saturday was way too nasty... not much visibility. Put a 6m Access XC up in the afternoon, put it back down in about 15min...
Sunday was unreal though pity you had to bail early Tim :( Dave and I got up there around 12-1 oclock... had hired some snow shoes for the hike over the back of thredbo, it was a very calm and warm sunny day. There was no wind until we got over the hill and down into this little basin/bowl. Put up a 10m Flysurfer Psycho 4 and Dave put up a 10m Speed 2, we had a decent amount of power at around 10-12knots.
Dropped down into the top of that main valley and the wind completely died... waited for 20 odd minutes while sipping on some hot chocolate and then the wind cranked up to 15+knots. Then had a fantastic session until we decided to head back to the top of thredbo at about 4-430pm and actually made it all the way there with the kite! Got all the way up to the back of Antons T-Bar, winds were a little flukey on the way down but i was suprised at how well the Psycho 4 handled it, just had to keep tension on the lines as we were going straight downwind pretty much.
Then had some fantastic powder sessions on Monday morning down to Dead Horse Gap... Great weekend!
Peace

Hey Peace,
I looked at the wind stats when I came home and noticed it picked up right as we left. Bummer for us. Glad to hear that Dave and yourself got to make the most of it.
Looking forward to the next opportunity to go skiing..
