Forecast for Sunday
Winds: West to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots tending south to southwesterly up
to 10 knots by early evening. Seas: Below 1 metre.

Looking to be better than origionally forecast (Westerlies all day); so not sure if it'll swing early enough; but low tide is at 2pm, leaving plenty of time for a race or two after that. I might not be able to make it until 2pm, but will try and make an effort to come sooner if the wind swings a bit.

ok, knuckle head SB didn't see the in bold and large letters right up front of the post of LOCATION, ie link of:

http://www.extremekites.com.au/locations/australia-and-new-zealand/barwon-heads,-13th-beach-2008010559/

So could some one please confirm that this is the part of the beach where we will meet at, ie where the big orange blob is.

Thanks,
SB

Car park at marker number 40, on Thirteenth Beach Road.

It's close to the western end.

If your coming from Barwon Heads (heading West), the Thirteenth Beach Road speeds go to 80, then to 100kph, just as it goes to 100, about 100-200? meters later is the car park, on your right hand side.

Or save yourself some traveling time going through Barwon Heads, and turn onto Black rock Road at the air port (if your coming down on Barwon Heads Road), come in from this end it is better onto Thirteenth Beach Road.

Failing my poor crazy dirrections.
Look for the others, like me. :)

Joel, You Folks didnt miss out on much, the wind was a constant 10-15 knot westerly till 3pm and then swung around to a SW, for about 30mins and then finally settled into a SE for the rest of the afternoon. I think all up we got about 45mins of good kiting today....hmmm Better luck next time, but on the bright side it was an amazing day! JOLLI

Ahh well, I ended up being tied up until about 6pm. So at 6:15pm we decided to go do some fishing so drove down to Rye / Dromana. Just got back.

I would still liked to have been there, Barwon Heads is just a really great area in itself!

Sure is and i have to say that sorta made up for the badish wind direction.

The 45mins that we did fly saw some really nice runs up and down the beach, had the 7M Haka up and was the largest kite on the beach till Norm Thru up the Venom 13m. I was a little over powered but felt like i was moving at light speed on that beach. You gotta love the feeling.

Anyways, it's goign to be a place i have to visit again soon.

Sure was an interesting day. First lots of umming and ahhing where to make the base camp with the Westerlies, but ended up at the designated W40 location, which is the easiest to get the gear down for the buggiers.

Brought out the NPW5 2.3m^2 for some down winding on the landboard and thought I could do with a bit more power. So out comes the NWP5 8m^2, I then effectively weighed 40 kg less. So here I go tip toeing down the beach, then some zig zag scudds down the beach. By the time I got back to where I started from decided to give the Venom a ago and now the wind had swung around almost blowing on shore. Sure was fun. Zachary had a go to but had troubles with getting back going up wind, so I said let's go for a down winder until we run out of beach and then walk back together. The look of dissapointment quickly changed to a big grin, so off we were. Zachary first, me to follow.

Top day, looking forward to the next session there.
