    Well.....

It wasn't using a kite but... at the munro downhill. I did 400m in 1:05. Avg speed of 22kmh, from a standing start. And Jarrad cronin did 1300m in 1:10, avg speed of 66kmh, from a standing start. :) :) I'd say his top speed was somewhere around 85kmh at the fastest part of the track.

Wind was about 15-20 kn. ;)

    Hi Plummet....

Iv only just read this thread... and.... 3 times now Iv walked away to think about it and returned, but Iv decided to have a little input here. Im only just getting my feet into a landboard and I have really no idea how to ride one yet but I do have an idea about 1 thing and that is this...

People are going to flame me silently for what Im about to say, and some may even hop on and do it in this thread.. however here goes...

Dude, you come on here and make this international challenge...

2 of probably the best board riders in this country step up with some results and you decide that one is doubtful ?

He's got team rider on his avatar for a very good reason, I dont see it on yours ?

I dont know Schultzie THAT well, but I cant see why he would come on here and risk his reputation as a team rider and respected forum user by telling you a little white one about board speeds he has done at Sandy Point.

But if youre going to come on here and sprout your speeds, which obviously do not match the speeds, nor skills of these two blokes... dont give us excuses like... gee I was tired I could have gone quicker... go get some speeds up and come and tell us what they are.

I could get quite aggi about this but I wont, and I will finish off with this.... dont stop trying... dont stop chasing these speeds if you really want to have your moment in the sun...

Cos I tell ya what kiwi lad.... theres a 12 yr old boy kicking around over here just starting out on landboard...and he's showing signs of getting very good very quickly and in a couple of years he will be coming up behind you, tapping you on the shoulder with a big grin and a thumbs up, before overtaking you and roosting you with enough sand to fill Sydney ****ing harbour. :D

    Looking forward to your improvements.

    Cheers,

    Nas.

How about posting photo's of GPS readings like we do for buggy speeds, then we will start a top 10 on here as well.

I think GPS readout, AND footage would be desirable. Then at least theres some real proof. GPS speeds can be obtained in a car and the positioning can be out by a few hundred metres..I forget the technical term for that.

    SHEPPO3930

i can voutch for Justin pulling 55km/h at a speed week session a couple years ago (i think it was 2005). he then jumped in my buggy, in a wetsuit, and i think did 3rd fastest time.

the reality is its an honesty thing. your gps's can be fudged. lets face no one could tell the speed of someone by watching a video. if you post a bogus reading who are your cheating? yourself. ps too much talk and not enough action. post some speeds.

    yes... I think your right.

    schultzie

with better quality gps units they are extreemly accurate, like down to 2-3m for this reason i wont use the gps software in my phone, but my actual unit, and by physically showing some one your reseting your max speed and then showing them after your day out you then dont get ppl fudging it

ill vouch for plummet , there were 7 of us , 2 KGB and rest on buggy . I was running along at 38-45 most of the trip up the 46km beach , i had a burst of 60 (buggy) plummet left before us so we would arrive at the top at the same time, i passed him with 10km to go but he was holding his own with us, it was no easy task to drive by. Remember we are going one way for 46km cross onshore clean wind so its not hard to wind up and get comfy and then get the confidence to push harder when the odd gust comes in.

Im big time hoping ill be able to add to this soon. Waiting on some nice NE'ers to get some runs in. But i think that fingers crossed ill be able to make it to the moose meet this year...would give me a good chance to get some speed runs in.

PS Plummet. just recieved word that my source for carbon can get me what i want...so the build is all on. getting wood next week. something called jeqitiba not that fijian kauri. this stuff is compareable to baltic birch so it should be alright hopefully.
