The Hardangervidda is a good cheap trip.
It's not that hectic provided you have the gear, skills etc either
You can get a train to Finse from Oslo central with your sled etc and from there it's only 30-60 minutes kiting to the South side of the Hardangerjokulen glacier where Bjorn bugalugs was bivved out in the film.
There are huts every 30km if you feel like getting a big feed and a shower, otherwise it's cool to camp anywhere on the whole plateau.
I spent a month there in 2008 and kited my bum off...you can go for a weeks by yourself or just hang near the DNT huts, which, no bullish#t are full of beautiful young single women on cross country skis with their dogs.

Highly recommended, I'll be taking the family when it matures a bit
