Easter 2010 we had hired a house on Todd avenue, I dropped some people back at the Rydges. On the way back I spotted this kiteboarder walking in the middle of the road on the medium strip, kite under one arm, board under the other, walking like he had a mangled back, turns out it's not his back, it's his feet, they're all cut up underneath. I offer him a lift, he jumps in the car, under his feet cut to pieces. He had done a downwinder from near the caravan park in Yeppoon, and his mates weren't there to pick him up at the other end which was down past the rydges. He had walked some gravel track back, and continued walking bare foot after waiting more than 2 hrs for them. Nice guy, seemed to know his stuff, used to fly Arcs etc. Dropped him at his car, the last I ever spoke to him
