Tides look great for around 26th January with high tides around 1.23m at 1am, low tide around 8am, high tide at noonish but only .5 or so (still heaps of beach) and low again around 6pm. That's usable beach ALL day Let's hope the claypan is dry - Brenton sent me a pic from the iPhone - the claypan is full of water right to the edge

Well, given Australia day is on the Saturday and the public holiday will be on Monday the Kingston weekend proper will no doubt be the 26th, 27th and 28th of January. If people are wanting to extend the weekend further (which I'd be up for ) I would suggest extending after the weekend rather then before as the new moon is due on the 23rd so will be waxing (ie. getting bigger) after the weekend, reaching 70% the following weekend. By contrast the moon will be waining (ie. getting smaller) from 28% to 0 the week before - and bugging on that lake in the silver moonlight is just magical!
So, all things being equal I'd be opting to extend after (: (: (:


Anyway, I sure Terry will be able to way in with the final word if we ask him.

Most likely a lot of us will be there the week running up to the weekend, not after as school holidays finishes at that time. Alas most people then (I would think Norm, Mick, Terry etc) will be there the week before.

So most of the week before the long weekend is good, but perhaps not the weekend before.
4 or 5 days is enough for me, so probably camp on the beach from Thursday 24th to Monday 28th.
