Kite Skates

Are there any inline bladers out there that would like to try blading with a kite?

Well i guess i could use a couple of advise soon - hopefully ill get the frame job for my doomwheels done within the next couple of days

Can you use a ZimmerFrame with a kite? - Any more spills like the one near the start of this video and I can see some dicky-knees in the not too distant future.
Is it a fashion statement to tuck your jeans into your skates?
I am reminded of the 'peanuts' cartoon strip where Charlie Brown always ended up with a kite in a kite-eating tree - the conifers in the background look particular hungry

You realy dont need a Doom blade set up to get going.

Even a pair of normal Speed skates would do.

Inline Speed skates have a larger wheel diametre than your normal skates,
which makes it easier to go over bumpy terrain such as grass.

Done, it tryed it, they work fine

So the frame-job is almost done. I couldn't get them made in stainless-steele however they're getting galvanized - hopefully it will help abit so they wont rust away ^^

I was just wondering, how would you stop when at high speed? When i landboard i would normally just power-slide off some speed, can that be done as well on skates or do you need to brake using only the kite?

Ill post up some pictures when i get them all all done

Hey M, to shave off speed with skates, you need to slowly bringing up the kite above you to the apex,
and heading up wind.

If you're on a smooth surface you also can slide the skates to a stop.

I also come to a quick stop by directing the kite behind me, in a controlled manner. But be very carefull in stopping this way.

So now all the pieces are put together - personally i think they look quite nice

Qutie heavy though, so i might make a new pair if i think its good fun and i get to jump around, but for now they should work quite well.

Ill be using them mostly on sand, but depending how good they are on fiels ill give them a go as well

Now be carefull with skates used with kites, its addictive.

I once thought nothing could replace buggying, till I strapped on a pair of skates.

I blame Joe (Jolli) for my addiction. We were buggying in Elwood a couple of years ago,

we stopped to rest and talked about stuff, when he mentioned that he's seen a bloke that kited with skates,

called Doom Blades on Utube.

The rest is history.

Yea it seem to me that every kite related sport is very addictive to me

Ill give my 3,5 trainer IMP a go first i think, then its on to the 10m access when theres low wind. Ive been rollerblading for the last 15 years so ill expect to get the hang of the skates quite quick. They react quite like my skikes (though a lot heavier), gave them a spin down the driveway today, then roll soo easy and smooth. I cant wait to put them to the test

Hey Klinger, good to see another doomie getting into the sport. I've got some ply left over from my kiteboarding project and am thinking about making a set of doomies with the left overs.

So i had my first run on the skates - sadly it was in 5 knots using my 10 meter access ^^

Well i got a little feel of it, but as the kite wouldnt stay in the air whitout moving it, it was kinda hard to really get into it

But i even managed to go quite a bit up-wind - even in that little wind

Ill be looking for a bit more wind, then im off

Good on you M.
It is harder with light wind, cause you need to keep your balance while keeing the kite in the air.
