News Article & Photos: HQ Matrixx Kite
The new HQ Matrixx is not a replacement for the Neo2, rather it is an additional kite to their Closed Cell product line with the Matrixx being a much higher aspect ratio kite. The matrix features a more efficient profile for low wind riding, extra thin bridle lines for reduced drag and more power per square meter of sail.

I know a number of people waiting for the Flysurfer Speed 3 in a 10m, and with Flysurfer still not releasing a 10m I now can't wait to get my hands on a 9m Matrixx to see if it will do the job and fill that gap.

The original HQ Neo was an ok kite, great as a first effort closed cell release however the HQ Neo2 was just an incredible advance on the original, so with that knowledge in hand hopefully they have made something equally remarkable with the new Matrixx.

HQ , NEO, THE MATRIX.. I think there's a theme going on here.

I recon the next kite will be called THE MORPHIUS.

On a serious note, because I do most of my flying on my own during the day,
there's no one around to give me a hand to launch my LEI to go kite surfing, so I just go to the park for a kiteskate instead.
Now with the Matrix I'd be able to kitesurf, Kiteskate, or kiteski without any help,
and without the high price tag of other similar kites on the market. And another bonus would
be i would only have to carry half the amount of kites.

Jason I'd love to try this Kite.

Looks like it will be a better buggy engine than the Neo2 with the higher aspect, 9m would be a nice buggy size I reckon.

The NEOII is more all terrain I guess, I quite enjoyed both my water and land sessions on it.

The Martix is designed for more power and lift.

A couple of months before we see these in Aus but there will be a demo.

Kiting with over-size kites was so 1999, yesterday's 15m is todays 9m, unless your name is Luke Skywalker :upyours:

What are you doing on here anyway, shouldn't you be off crossing the Simpson Desert with that 21m paraglider you just got?

    :p :good: :clapping: ... Great idea Luke.. .... I'm with ya 100%... :D :p

Can't wait to get to Yeppoon and get my hands on one...it looks sweet.
Yannick seems to be getting very good results in the buggy with one and has got me very tempted... :yes3:

After having a few HQ kites down here in gusty Canberra I have been very impressed (as have others) with their build quality, power delivery and ability to handle the gusty stuff....

If I get to get my hands on one in Qld ....It might get kid-napped for a few weeks to find out if it too enjoys the weather we get down here...or I'll wait for the kite that goes to the demo system, either way I'm getting a taste for close cell kites and their gust munching ability and this looks like a good one..

    can't wait

I know it's only early days for these but hows the 15m go in comparison to the Speed 3 15m?
My old 15m Fuel supertanker is now slower turning and less powerful than most kites on the market.

HQ have some good riders, they can post some video of the Matrix and demonstrate how good it is :)

I think people should compare the Matrix to the FS Unity (when its released) or PL Charger, before the Speed 3.

The Speed 3 is the best kite FS has ever made and the benchmark of any closed cell on the market.

If HQ can make a closed cell for half the price and it flys 80% as well they will create their own market slot as a solid alternative to other manufacturers.

There was a lot of hype few years ago about the Neo when it first came out!

Everything looks sick in pics :)

    Waiting on video :popcorm1:

    In the mean time,

Neo 2 is not falling from the sky, check the height on this stuff @ 1:56

dead right luke and flysurfer is still the bench mark to aspire to for all closed cell kites and if the new Matrix is half as good on the first go then it can only get better from the get go !! :D and yes that was some fullysick air time , I'm hoping to have ago with a 12m2 speed three up in yeppoon this year so i will have a better idear of what its like an open mind is a learning mind !! :D :crazypilot: u there luke ?? Yeppoon that is ?? :friends: :drinks:

I don't think the Matrix will be only half as good it will be much better than that, it will hit the air running :good: shape and AR it already looks much better than the NEO imo. This is also not HQ's first attempt either which means they have some knowledge of close cell already.

Yeppoon, I am looking into it, my monthly work deadlines are the issue, would be great to see you QLD boys again, and meet some new faces. :)
