Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can by a belly pan? I have found dark-sky kites in the UK, but postage is crazy! Just wondering if there was anywhere over here?

Make one yourself mate.

Use paper or cardboard to get the template right and cut it out of some flexible PVC or plastic. You got Clark rubber over there ?

You can fix it by drilling holes and using zip ties.

Looks like a trip to Clarke rubber at the weekend! Also need some webbing to make some foot-straps.

You're chasing 3mm HDPE, a jigsaw, some sand paper, handfull of heav duty zip ties and a heat gun.

I bought that sheet of HDPE from a plastics supplier. You do not need UHMWPE, HDPE is fine.

I might have to make me one of these. I came close to landing on a branch on the weekend.
We have an elastomer manufacturer here in town so I'll try them.

Must say I am impressed with the idea too. Any idea where one could get a sheet from?

I've asked Mr Google and surprisingly he didn't come up with the goods :?

P.S.
I found one place (Polyfabrics Australia Pty Ltd) which have 1.5mm HDPE available at $7 per m^2 but it comes off a 7.5m role, so what ever area you order it's going to be 7.5m wide. Also, I think there in Perth.

I am just trying to source some HDPE sheet now, Polyfabrics don't have any in Perth - but kindly recommended another company, so I have emailed them.

Will also try Clarke Rubber to see if they have anything suitable.

I have bought a role of clear PVC from Bunnings, flexible enough to wrap around and feels pretty tough! How far from the edge should I make the holes for the cable-ties?

Going to have a go at making it later, I will post some pictures!

I would do a few test holes with a bit of scrap.


You may want a hole right near the edge for where the cable tie comes over the top of the siderail, but you may also want one to catch the cable tie from under the rail

Will also depend on how tough/weak stiff/flexible your material is.
Too stiff/weak I would not have the holes too close to the edge


Make sure you band a sticker or two on the underside

Belly pan looks good. So to does the mudguard, but Im not sure thats the road I'd go down with a mudguard. Especially on that buggy. You might find that it will scape your ankle thought the turns. I'm sure interested to find out how it goes but in my opinion get you self a splashguard. I swear by them.

While im at it I'll also mention that you might like to cut a curve on the back edge. If you look at the picture from joel above you can see that the back edge it curved. If you don't cut this out you may find that it will touch the ground now and then. But I really like the clear PVC look. Sticker it up and it'd look awesome.

I think it's going to be a case of suck it and see! I did think of cutting a curve on the back edge, will see how I go. The mud guard was just playing with a bit of leftovers, I'm not sure how successful it's going to be.

I think if I find a more suitable material then I will use the present pan as a template. Definatley needs some stickers though.

I decided I didn't like the clear PVC - looked naff and wasn't very practical. So go some plastic stuff from one of the stores guys at work. Down loaded a template after doing a google search and am really happy with the results...

This is where I found the template http://www.outriderweb.com/forum_posts/pkf/pan.zip made for a flexi SS but worked for the PL comp!
and I have got enough stuff left to make a splash guard!
