    Hey everyone

Ill be moving to Sydney from Sunny Redcliffe in QLD. I am looking for the best place to kitesurf that is close to work (Sydney Airport). I heard Dolls Point is the way to go as its close to the airport and is the stomping ground for many kite surfers. Am I correct?

Does anyone live in that area? from Brighton Le Sands down to Dolls Point?

    Gday qfmike737

without a doubt, dolls point is the closest to the airport (if the wind is right and you beat the water police, you could fly into the runway!)

Its a great spot for flat water kite surfing, summer proves to be the best and worst. The wind (and temperature) is at its best there then, the only down side to it is quite a few kite surfers know about it and it can get pretty busy.

Depending how good you are though, its a pretty long strip and if you head just north (i think its a nth sth strip) towards brighton there are fewer kites to tangle with but the advantage of dolls is it has a beach to lauch off, whereas the rest of the strip doesnt.

If this location doesn't suit you, contact Kitepower Sydney they'll be able to help you out.

Thanks for the post. I'd like to compare it with Wello/Brighton Beach and the places around Brisbane. I dont think I am going to like the crowds I might consider commuting up to Brisbane to Kite.

Couldn't find an answer to what I was looking with the search function for so thought I'd dredge up the closest old topic I could find...

Kitesurfing in summer in Sydney is generally done on the NE seabreezes (and maybe the southerly busters) right?

So the bit that I'm unsure of - generally what wind speeds are we getting/do people use for kitesurfing in summer? I figure it's a hard question to ask 'cos the NE'ers in particular build throughout the day, but everything I've read about kite selection is about getting something appropriate for your size and your location.

    Thanks in advance!
