Had my first session in the water with a kite, was great fun and I don't think I did too badly given it was my first go! Definitely need to do it again... I can see why it is addictive!

Hello Im back thanks for your welcome mesages, not much has happened over the last couple of days just the same old same old (work, house, car & mate stuff).Today was a bit different thou i was talkin to gaza (TAZ DEVIL) & shane about kites, shane was telling me about his flight down the coast and how he got drag along (scudding)and having a hoot of a time, he also brought his kite along so i could have a look at it and what comes with it. So long story short (coz im stuffed & going to sleep) looks like i will be getting my first kite soon (gaza will be happy his kite will be safe for now) lookin forward to taking it out and doin a couple of face plants until i get the hang of it.
until then thank for those who welcomed me and i will let ya know how my face plants go.

    chow for now

    Hello,

Just introducing myself here before i go strolling through the other threads.
I'm a father of 2 girls, living 5 minutes from North Haven Beach in Adelaide.
I'm only into the Stunt kites myself. Own a prism Nexus and a Dodd Gross detonator plus a couple of "designer" 1 liners. (some of those 1 liners are tricky buggers to launch and keep in the air too!)

Don't get out nearly enough, but i'm looking to change that by stepping up a notch to the Rev Quad lines, or maybe a high end dual line.

Anyway, this looks like THE forum to be in for all things kite, and so far it's seems very friendly.

    I'll go ask questions now...

Welcome to the EK forums, Innie.. :) Good to have another stunt pilot on board.. someone else I can ask for advice.. :D

On 2 other general items tho...

Firstly, there's no Z's in my name. Gaza is a Palestinian city. Just thought I'd point that out.. again.. :)

    And secondly...

SURELY it's time this thread was made "sticky".. ?

    Hello everyone!

Since I’m taking advantage of the demo kites and the excellent advice given on this forum, I thought I’d better introduce myself.

My name is Johan, I’m 31 and originally from Sweden. After living in the UK for a few years I met an Adeladian lady and have now enjoyed life in South Australia for about 8 months. After being dragged on my face trying to launch my mate’s PL Venom 16 in 2005 I thought to my self “what a brilliant way of being dragged on my face”. So I got myself a Venom 13 and a landboard. Unfortunately I only stuck to it for some months and packed my gear up after a spectacular crash in a hedge while launching my kite in far too strong winds trying to show off for my mates back in Sweden. (Lesson learned: take professional lessons, know your limitations and if you’re not a Swedish resident healthcare is ****ing expensive!).

Luckily I brought my gear with me to Adelaide, and living close to the beach I have now taken professional lessons together with my missus and am now much more confident with my kite and am close to being a kite surfer (just need to get that timing right after the water start). If the wind isn’t strong enough for going on the water I still like to landboard or just fly kites on the beach.

So that’s a bit about me. Cheers for a good forum!

Good on you Johan, pleased to see after all your trials you've ended up in the perfect city- Adelaide.

Hej Johan, and a belated welcome to the EK forums.. :)

I have had a few friends in Sweden, and learned a little of the language from them, but don't expect too much.. it was a long, long time ago. Nice to have someone else on the forums that can write in perfect English, anyway.. there aren't too many of those.. :p

    Hej då ;)

Hi I’m Dave and can’t recall being anybody else! :D

Currently 45 and have lived in Tassie for just as long!
Married 25 years next year with 3 daughters 21, 19 & 17 and have done a fantastic job in making kiting unappealing for the family :bad: ….so all the kites are mine!! Mawahahaha!! :victory:They have spoken about having a burning when I die???
I work for the Tassie Govt. and sometimes find it difficult flying as much as I would like too.

Havn't been on the EK forum that long but am having a good time here!
Love flying all kites from tissue fighters to traction. Always had the kite bug but it really took off (sorry about the pun!) when I joined the Kite Flyers of Tasmania in 1997.
Got into building a few kites and meeting some great people in the club and at the Roaring 40’s International Kite Festival in 1998 and at the Adelaide International Kite Festival in 2000 (where I won a Best Single Line Kite Award for building the Rok pictured in my avatar.)
Have been KFT treasurer for longer than I can remember now! And just love the people involved. We are so lucky to have some super talented kite makers down here.
Keen to grow KFT and am always on the lookout for prospective members! Would love to get the club back to the glory days of 50+ active members! Tell me “I’m dreamin!” LOL

Love sailing, motorbike riding along with my kiting passion/obsession!

Kite toys: Blade II 4.9m, ye ole’ Land Lizard buggy, ye ole’ 3.5 NGen, Ground Zero Wavelength (custom build for a team I flew with for a few years) my new REV/s (thanks Steve), built Rok’s, serpents, PL Pilot, firebird and numerous other kites.

Other toys: Dennis TS500 trailer sailer, 2008 Suzuki GS500F, banged up old VP Comm Exec. Wagon

Love to fly with the lads down here Steve, Ant, Tim & Dud’s! :friends:

Want to get more proficient on the buggy and build more kites but ‘time’ / ‘money’ / ‘wind’ seem to never to occupy the same space these days….oh well looking at the ages on this thread there’ll be time in retirement if the body holds out that long! Hi everyone

I'm Kevin Sanders from Willunga, South Australia, 51y.o. married 27 years, kite flying for 19 years.

The only kiting I'm not into is traction - not because I don't like it, a motorcycle crash in my youth resulted in a spine that won't take the strain of traction kiting :(

My first love is duallies, followed closely by singles and quad (there is only one sport quad - Rev) and the occasional fighter.

Been lucky enough to travel a fair bit to festivals around the world, and meet heaps of cool people who are also into kiting.

I also dabble in kite making and designing.

    Good winds!
