or should that say buggiers? ;)

Is there anybody out there who would like to meet up? I have a PL buggy and ozone flow and fly regularly on the salt lakes in Rockingham. I try to get down there most Sunday Mornings (weather and wind permitting) and can sometimes fly on a Saturday. If you are interested in meeting up give me ahoy! (PM me and I will let you have my contact details).

Or if you fly elsewhere in the Perth area would love to try new places to fly!

    Cheers

Hi Mark, I am a complete noob who will be going to Rockingham in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if you will be buggying that weekend? (Sunday 27th Nov).

I am getting an Ozone Flow 3m that weekend, and intend to go to the salt lakes to fly it. If you are out in your buggy I would be keen to watch.

    Hi Bones,

Yeah I will probably be there Sunday 27th, I try to get down there most Sunday mornings - and have been getting there by about 7.30ish if there is wind. More than happy to meet up and if you are comfortable with flying the kite you could try the buggy? Set up the kite (ie attach lines and handles) somewhere out of the wind before you head out for your first fly.

I usually head down the far end of the lake more space and away from the men and their little airplanes! It's about a kilometer from the car park.

I have attached a couple of pictures, and here is the link to a video on the salt lake http://youtu.be/LX8xDPEJy4s I can PM my contact details if you want?

I might just take you up on that offer Mark, provided I am comfortable controlling the kite, and the wind conditions are good.

The wife and I have just ordered a 3m Flow, and a two line Ozone Imp 1.5m. Hopefully they arrive before then, anyone know how long it takes for stuff to get from Sydney to Perth?

I also ordered The Power Kiting How To Guide DVD. Should get me started.

    Hey Bones,

Wind is looking ok at the moment for Sunday, looks good for a static fly could do with it swinging around a bit for a decent buggy session.Have your kites arrived yet?

How local are you to Rockingham? Do you know the salt lakes? I head down to the wide area where they do the land yachts, there is a converted container/shed thing down there. I was there at 6am last yesterday and had an excellent couple of hours.

    See you soon

Yeah, kites arrived on Friday. I am not allowed to try mine out until my birthday on Saturday. Have been watching the DVD I mentioned, some cool buggy spins explained in detail on there.

I live near the center of Perth, and have never been south before. I am sure we will find the area you described, provided we can find the car park. If we get time we will head out for a fly on Saturday some time as well.

Hamish, get off the freeway at Safety Bay Rd, and keep going west and the car is about 5.5kms on your left, if you get to Warnbro station you've missed it!

I'm down there most weekends, usually early Sunday Mornings - from 7.30 but earlier if I can :crazypilot:

Will be there this Sunday, looking at the wind may try to get down there at 6ish!

Had a good go on Sunday as I was down there at 6, though the wind was a bit on/off then died completely before picking up in the arvo. Had messed about with the PL bug, extended the down tube and moved the seat forwards and was doing some awesome slides and had less under-steer. Nearly matched my PB but it was underpowered (even for the 5m Flow) so didn't hold out much hope of topping it!

Met Mr and Mrs Bones - Hamish I will let you try the bug when you get a few more hours on the kite, was good to have someone to talk to about kites and buggies etc. The Mrs just doesn't get it! :wall2:

The forecast for this week looks pretty poor for late arvo - but if it improves then I could be down Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (Friday is POETS day so could get down there any time from 2!) so fingers crossed it improves.

Sunday morning is looking hopeful though I know it is a bit soon to tell for sure! If it stays the same will look at getting down there from about 7.30 or 8ish (I am keen)! :crazypilot:

I'll still be there at 7.30! Not sure abou the gates - the land yachts are around in the arvo. Forecast is for a north-easterly so getting down to the wide bit won't be an issue! Maybe a walk back though!

I'll be down there again Sunday morning. Probably not at six as my wife is getting a bit annoyed at the early starts :boredom: ,but the best wind looks early so will try to be there from 7ish if I can sneak out!
