    Hey all,
Been thinking of trying out a single line glider type kite for a while, and the new zero-g from Prism is looking pretty cool.

Mark Reed on the Prism forum says that they'll be in store by April 20, anyone know if that's Australia too? Jason? anyone? :D

If it is anything like Ceewan's Plutz 3 it will be a great flyer.

...but the graphics... <insert puke smiley here!>

    Cool, thanks Jason.

By the other SLK do you mean the switch? It's a pretty cool concept being able to change between a slk and a two line acrobatic stunt kite but I'm more interested in the glider at the moment :)

    Hey Mat

How does it compare to the Ginga and the Urban Ninja?

In low low wind its still the Urban Ninga with its better glide angle the Zero G will fly but you've got to move around a bit more.

Performance wise its more like the Ginga and dosent like to be rushed, beautiful slow turns and stable in the sky. It will spin 180 deg in fact you need to master that if self launching as it wont belly launch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajz97ewwQbs

Had the oppotunity to fly both the Ninga and G indoors and prefer the G only because it's more stable or is that less twitchy.

Outdoors both are good fun in light wind it just depend on my mood which one I fly. Not tried the G in 5 knot + yet mainly because those days have been a bit scarce laterly.

This assemble video gives a good overview of kite and its bridle arrangement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NOEY3LGbbA

Build quality is good the kite comes in a padded bag with line and mine also had a spare set of winglet rods so for less than $80 pretty good value.

    Cheers

My regards to all the Moana flyers and hope to catch up with you all soon.

OK I spent a little bit of time on one of these on the weekend and here are my initial thoughts.

Easy glide kite with low speed hovering and easy to use. I feel that due to the opposing front wings this gives the kite more of a float type of action rather than a forward glide action. This becomes evident when trying to get it to dart forward with a tug or to overfly the pilot. Even with the angles adjusted and the tow point fully forward it didn't have much drive.

The good and the bad of it-

The Pro's - Very easy to fly and you will be quickly rewarded with this kite. Very forgiving and likes to self recover from most positions which means less walks of shame. Very light weight and provides lots of glide and hangtime.

The Con's- Lack of forward drive means it's not the most dynamic of this style of kite and it loses some of that Indian Fighter style of flying. Also it refuses to glide upwind of the pilot in anything but near zero wind.
If the wind comes up this kite is not a happy camper at all! It goes into lockout and spirals constantly so keep it to sub 6knt days.

The alternative- The Flying wings WALA is another option if your after a more demanding style of kite.

thanks Jason for...testing it out and also giving a review of it.

the Prism does look like it wants to be a slow performer and m not surprised that its going into spirals in the wind coming upfront.
