i have been in talks with the council that controls the beach at Pt Germein and have gained permission to hold a lnad sailing"event" on the beach front over the up coming long weekend which is the last weekend in september, the council have given permission to hold a "social sailing event" over that weekend, i hope that there will be a few of us land saliors going up for the weekend, the council have STRESSED that this is to be a social sailing weekend and that NO racing or speed trials are to be held as we do not have exclusive use of the beach,, for those that don't know where Pt Germein is, it is about 3 hours or less north of Adelaide on the road to Pt augusta...I am passing on an open invitation to anyone who thinks they might like to come up for a day or for the weekend, the dates ate from 28th september through to the 1 october. For anyone who wishes to attend there are some rules, for lack of a better word, that will need to be followed as the local police officer has been infromed as to what is going to happen and he lives right across the road from the beach, people are to "sail" south of the township jetty only as that is the area we have been allocated to sail,, for anyone going there is accomodation in the form of a caravan park but it is only a small park so a site booking early would be advisable, there is no camping allowed on the township beach front, apart from that, i hope that things will be pretty cool,, oh there is no fuel avaliable in Pt Germein, the closest fuel is at Pt Pirie about 25 k's from the sailing area.. I hope to have a sailors meeting on the sat;day morning near the beach fron tjust to go over the do's and dont's and what i hope for...
that is sunshine and good winds.. if anyone is interested and wants more details please let me know and i'll try to give as much info as i can
