Beaches face from SW to SE. Most wind direction are generally good. When the winds are from the north however, there are a few lagoons behind the dunes which provide some great smooth water. For buggiers there is a large area of flat sand for use in any wind direction at the Cutting (usually only dry in the summer though).
Port Fairy also has a 13 kilometer kitebuggy (beach/rock/seaweed fun run) SW to SE depending on skill level of pilot & equipment. Starts at Port Fairy and ends in Kilarney! There are sand runs all, gets soft in places, and is not for beginners.
