Imp Quattro 3.5m
I bought the Imp Quattro 3.5m as a fun kite and so that I would have a kite for people that were interested to have a go at traction kiting and to replace my aging PKD Buster 3m. It comes provided in very well constructed heavy duty stuff sack which that has plenty of room to throw in a water bottle and other goodies for a day out kiting. Also provided are 4 x 180kg flying lines, full sized neoprene padded handles and kite killers plus instruction book, stickers and a key ring.
Build quality of the kite is top notch even for an entry level Ozone kite with the openings around the cells reinforced with mylar tape and all stitching very neat with no lose threads to be found any where. The fabric of the kite seems to be a bit lighter than other Ozone kites but this allows the kite to fly in lighter winds that most new kiters start out in. Bridles are unsleeved Dyneema I think this has been done to meet the price point of the Quattro but are neatly stitched. There is also a velcro bridle holder on the centre cell opening to keep the bridles neat and prevent tangles when packing away.
I have had a chance to fly the kite in a variety of winds now ranging from very light on shore winds to gusting offshore and the Quattro handles all wind conditions very well and is super stable as you would expect for an entry level kite. I would gladly hand this kite over to anyone new to the sport for a fly because of it's very predictable and well mannered behaviour it has next to no lift and handles very well at the edge of the wind window. I have found it is also a great kite for when you just want to have a kite on hand for a bit of fun flying as it turns exceptionally quick for a low aspect kite and is truly a please to fly this also enables it to be worked rather easily when using it in the buggy. It doesn't generate a lot of pull when just poking around the wind window but start working it quickly using it's quick turning ability and it soon becomes a different beast altogether. I haven't had the chance to give it a go in higher winds in the buggy but I suspect it will make a good higher wind kite for buggying as well from the flights I have had with it so far.
In conclusion if your looking for a good quality, well built kite to start out in to the sport of traction kiting that's not going to try to kill you or your bank balance I would definitely put the Imp Quattro on the shopping list. On top of all that it will be a kite that you will be able to keep for quiet a while as a handy fun fly kite or a kite for those gusty higher wind days when you want something stable and predictable.
