At the rik of being seen as completely ignorant......

1. Are all the new race depowers closed cell kites

2. Comparatively how does a closed cell kite handle a gust ( normal FB fold scrunch up and ball kind)

You can tell I've never owned a closed cell kite, I guess I always thought of them as water / surf kites

The closed cell doesn't loose internal pressure instantly. So if it finds its self outside the window in a gust/lull situation In simply drifts back. You have to slack line them completely for a collapse to occur. Even then you can bring it back 90% of the time.

@Clive time you re-borrowed that Zebra 11M setup properly.
Let me know when you're about to pick it up, I'll throw in my Speed3 12M as well :D

Does one of you has any experience with the Sonic oder Diablo and cloud write a small comparison? Is there a difference in handling or racing? I know @socommk233 is flying the Sonic.

Thanks

Daniel

Sonic fr v1 and F-one diabolo v1 are similar in performance,  however the F-one has slightly better upwind performance.   @socommk233 and I have raced an approx 2 mile distance and the diabolo beat the sonic by approx 30 meters.  I am heavier than Russ so not sure if pilot weight matters once on the roll 🤔.  The diabolo has better bar pressure and handling than the sonic.   I found that the sonic sometimes jellyfishes in strong winds,  not sure if this takes away from the performance,  it's just someting you need to get use to,but I have not witnessed this effect with the diabolo (and am keen to see if it still happens with the sonic v2).

At the moment, it's down to price....v2 diabolo is plenty more money to fork out to own compared to the sonic v2!

I would personally go the sonic route if using with a buggy.  Our races do not have as long reaches as foilboard races, so there is less opportunity to see the true performance advantages of a kite with a very expensive price tag.

F-one have simply priced themselves out of the compitition.... 🤓

Russ, Thanks. Which sizes do ride and which do you think is useful with the buggy?

Started with 11m. Just bought an 8m too. Then I'm still after a 15m....more saving needed but might be out priced now so may go to another brand for the 15m.

If the hq can be in the mix for performance, they will probably give the big boys a shake up on price too.

Well, it will have to be something pretty incredible to make up for years of waiting.

With all these closed foils coming out does that mean inflatable kites are on the way out?

I dont think so .... especially for learning issues it is very useful to be able to get kite easy up again when watered ....

Thanks Juan, I had missed that.  Any idea if it's a North design or similar to F-One with a 3rd party designing for them?
