    Wilsons Promontory

Remarkable just how smooth the gimbal is, gives it that professional look, in he old days that kind of panning would have taken ages to set up and a fortune to do. Can you attach the gimbal to a really long pole for extreme rising shots? pretty place wilsons prom
  7. One extreme to the other..... 35 knots to almost nothing. would have liked to go, Saturday was my free day, but 35 knots was a bit much for a day trip, I see another weekend has been posted, hopefully then.

    Skates for kiting

Snow kiting... had a bash , closest would be Stirling 2-3 hours, but I thing falls creek 4 hours away would be the best. I got frostbite 3 years ago, due to a snowstorm I got stuck in, lost all enthusiasm for the white stuff since. Looking at doing ( just getting the gear together will take another 7-8 weeks to get it all ) other sports at the moment, tried to pm you but I can't send to you for some reason.....

    Skates for kiting

No tried them out just like skis.... ie poles and cross country method on a local made trail. Decided I'd end up breaking my legs with a kite, they've gathered dust ever since, forgot I had them until a spring clean, given I've not used them since.... I likely never will. Mind you haven't used any kites seriously for 12 months, went to speed week last year in November for 4 days only to do 300m on he beach, this years event this weekend the only day available was 30+ knot winds...... time to indulge in other pursuits.......

Professionally made skates for off season cross country ski training, can be used with kites if you're game. As per pics, used once. $100.00 plus shipping within Australia
  11. Looks like plenty of wind so far, so who's going to set their new record ? post your speeds 💨
  12. At this point, day trip only, weather and wind being favourable.

    Snowkiting VIC 2017

Falls is probably the best, you can head out to spion kopje, or over towards towonga huts, as long as you can get away from the resort area. most of the resorts don't work unless you can get well away from the lift areas... which often isn't as tracks are cut to make the runs and outside that it's still treed to some degree ( lake mountain, bawbaw, Buller wouldn't bother) read you need to have cross country ski gear, prefererably the metal edged telemark variety. stirling has a smallish area near the summit that's quite open, that's fairly easy access, not to sure about dinner plain. of course you theoretically could ski around Mt howitt and connected hills ie the bluff, or across at Mt speculation ..... none of those areas is particularly huge and open. My bogong would be ideal if you had the determination to climb it first. All these are "remote" areas and unless you are well equipped and confident about your abilities in the snow give these a miss. ( on a 4 day trip I spent 2 days backpacking out of a blizzard and have permanent nerve damage as a result of frostbite so I speak from experience) i suspect the best areas are up in the snowy mountains ..... not my backyard so can't help there.
