Set yourself even greater goals and make epic videos. Lefroy was just the beginning. Amazing new locations, impossible terrain, adventures to tell the grandkids.

Sell the R1. If you have bills, sort them. Later on get new mean Bigfoot bug with loads of ground clearance, buy a big fat low aspect depower for low down power and put it and yourself on a plane.

No plans for a new buggy or kites further down the line, this is the end of the road.

Whats the next challenge then Gum?

I have to be honest. You can't have been too into kiting if its that easy to give up.

On a side note. If kite buggying was the only option I had to kite I wouldn't do it either. Buggying conditions locally are too few and far between. When i am into something i want to do it weekly.I'd invest in a activity I could do more often.  For me that would be mountain biking. .... .. . .  Though I already have 3 mountain bikes :) They would become fruitier.....

@plummet, not to argue, but I would think it's fair to say that he was equally as addicted (if not more) as the rest of us, given his investment in time, equipment and video making.  Even popeye gave up kite buggy to pursue other interests.

Sometimes you go as far as you care to go with something.

The challenges of making both time and wind line up make this hobby both challenging to stay engaged and more rewarding when it does work out.

Excited, Enthusiastic perhaps. But not dedicated or addicted. Otheriwse Gum would still be at it. Finding ways to put get out there. Trialing alternative equipment like landboards and skateboards. Doing what needed to be done to get the joy.

But that's ok. Kiting is not for everybody. It is difficult to fit kiting around young family activities. The wind is a cruel mistress and does not fit into the time tables of busy people.

The cold hard reality is this.  If you really want to do something you will find a way. If not you will find an excuse.

@plummet I was addicted, but addiction isn't necessarily a good thing and really, questioning my commitment?

800+ blog posts

videos, making and editing (seriously I cant be arsed to count!)

2000+ posts on here

$$$'s spent on kites and gear

Buggying pretty much most weekends through-out the summer. I really wanted to do it for 4 and a bit years and did, I ate, slept and lived kites and buggying.

The decision to quit and move on sure wasn't a sudden thing and where to next?

Sell the R1, Survive Christmas and then the annual 6 weeks visit by the in-laws and see what happens.
